first_imgIt’s been years since the original lineup of The Smashing Pumpkins performed together, but that might all be about to change. Frontman Billy Corgan recently spoke to Chicago radio station WLUP, optimistically addressing the current state of the band. When asked about a potential reunion, Corgan said, “Things look good for us getting together to play. So, we’re talking about it. We’ll see.” He goes on to talk about how the band members would only be getting back together for a limited period of time, but that they would do it in a way that would make their fan base happy. The conversation stemmed from a recent reunion between Corgan and bandmat James Iha, as Iha joined Corgan at a performance in the March of 2016. Corgan also later revealed that he and D’Arcy Wretzky had become friends once more, only adding to the speculation that a full fledged Smashing Pumpkins reunion would happen. Additionally, Corgan has been touring with longtime drummer Jimmy Chamberlain, so his inclusion is likely as well.Interestingly, The Smashing Pumpkins’ YouTube account shared the video clip of Corgan’s radio interview, which seems to indicate that Corgan’s words about the subject are an official statement of sorts. You can watch the clip in the video, below.Full quote transcript: “Things look good for us getting together to play. So, we’re talking about it. We’ll see. There’s a willingness for us to play, but also the world’s changed a lot since we didn’t play. So the reunion thing is always a bit weird because people come in with their expectations. So my whole thing is if we’re gonna do it, I think we do it to make people happy and not go against the tide of what people would want to hear in that type of stuff, but my interest in it is sort of limited. I’m not gonna do it for like 14 years of my life.”last_img
