With youthful players on either side, Lone Star had an impressive start with their dominance in ball possession. BYC forward Fallah Sheriff, midfielder Allen Nije and forward Edward Ledlum, who was introduced in the second half, were some of the top Lone Star performers as they kept creating trouble for the Leone Stars’ defense. On the other hand, the Leone Stars also came prepared, and were able to prevent the host from scoring against them, while the visitors, too, created several chances in both halves, but were unlucky in the finishing form.According to coach Kojo, the national team stands a better chance to make marks in international competitions if the government and the LFA provide more financial and logistical supports to them.“We will have a better national team in the future if those needed supports are provided to the team. Such support will enable the team to undergo better training with better facilities,” he said.Kojo affirmed his commitment to building a strong youthful team to prioritize the inclusion of committed foreign-based players in his squad.“Right now, we have data for all the young players (both home-based and foreign-based) that we are monitoring to build a strong national team,” coach Kojo said. The weekend match, which was part of activities marking Liberia’s 171st Independence Anniversary celebration, was Kojo’s first test since he was appointed as the Lone Star team’s interim coach.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img
