first_imgJurgen Klopp will not mess around with a decision on Daniel Sturridge’s future at Liverpool. That’s the verdict of former Manchester United assistant manager Rene Meulensteen, who believes the England striker’s latest setback – a hamstring problem – in a long line of injuries could force the Reds’ boss into a decision.Meulensteen is certain Klopp has a concrete ideology of how his Liverpool team will evolve and progress that won’t be impacted by the 26-year-old’s persistent absences.“One thing to be sure is that Jurgen Klopp will not mess around in that respect because he has a clear vision where he wants to take Liverpool, with or without Sturridge,” Meulensteen told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.“That’s how he [Klopp] will look at it. If he [Sturridge] is seen as important Liverpool will do everything they can to get him back to his best and back performing in every game.“But if he’s not I am 100 per cent sure that Klopp will make a decision to move on without him.”Sturridge has featured just three times under Klopp’s stewardship so far, twice in brief substitute cameos, but scored twice in the 6-1 League Cup win at Southampton as he showed signs of recovering from knee and foot injuries. But the latest concern is likely to see him miss the congested Christmas schedule, leaving Klopp with just Christian Benteke and Divock Origi at his disposal in an attacking sense.last_img
